Welcome back to the odd and whimsical poetery of the Peeps related to holidaze! Let’s investigate what today is, because we need all the holidaze we can celebrate, right? Furtunately, our country is back to more or less normal government, about which all critters are very happy!
Still, every day seems to be many holidays. Which is good, because we all have our favorites. So I will pick out one or two, and you can click the link above if you’re curious about the rest. This is an Open Thread, so please feel free to add your favorite pomes and photoes and holidaze for today in the Comments!
Today is International Dinosaur Day!
How to Observe Dinosaur Day
The best way to celebrate the day is to visit a museum or other dinosaur-related attraction, where fossils or bones may be viewed. You could also watch a documentary about dinosaurs, or a film that features dinosaurs, such as Jurassic Park. If you have children, there are many dinosaur-related activities they could do today.
Dinosaur Poem
by Paul Perro
(see full pome at this link)
I've never seen a real dinosaur.
There are none around any more.
They lived in prehistoric time,
Let's learn about them in this rhyme.
Dinosaurs all had tiny brains
But they all had ginormous names.
Triceratops, brontosaurus,
Velociraptor, stegosaurus.
Pterodactyl (with a silent "p"),
Ichthyothaur, that thwam in the thea,
And there was the Iguanodon -
That one had a spike for a thumb.
The big tyrannosaurus rex
Was very scary, one suspects.
It had a lot of big sharp teeth,
And a *ROAR* that defied belief.
Most dinosaurs liked plants to eat
Some preferred the taste of meat.
But none of them ate chocolate
It had not been invented yet.
[Paul Perro wrote at least 6 books for children (available on Amazon), but I was not able to find any more details. Maybe he’ll visit and say hello!]
