It is Toosdai and so time for a pome mashery!. It would be Ogden Nashery, but we have just about used up all his pomes! So we will feature other poets, unless we find some Ogden on topic.
For tonight, we will explore today’s holidays:
Today is National Sugar Cookie Day!
Cookie Jar, by Richard Lamoureux
Standing on tippy toes
Top shelf
Reaching
Stretching
Finger tips edging the jar forward
Imagining the taste of chocolate chips on my tongue
Yumm mom’s chewy delicious wait till Saturday cookies
Thankful I have grown that extra inch
Thinking she’ll never suspect me

The jar
Tips
Topples
Tumbles
Turns
Travels over my head
Lands on the floor
Just as Snoopy comes running through the door
Eating all the cookies except for four
Looks up with his doggy grin
Like he wants some more

Today is also Nunavut Day!
The Shaman, by Story Tallinn
Indigenous knowledge and unwritten tradition
Ritual dances and pagan gods
She speaks to the deads
Heals the deepest wound
Whispers to the reindeers
But one day people with skins, the colour of snow, came
Untouched by her wisdom
Nothing she could do to stop them
The land was soiled
Purity went away
