What is scrod, you ask? Welp, I’m using it as an amusing past tense of screw. Because we’re not supposed to use any NSFW words in our titles. I didn’t get paid today and won’t get paid tomorrow. So it’s also appropriate because they’re leaving me under water. But in case you were wondering, scrod is actually a white fish ready for cooking, like this (I recommend clicking the link — cooked in wine, it sounds great!):
So as many of you know, I have made my way back to full-time work after a long period of on-and-off hospitalizations and pain medications. And now suddenly, I get an email: “Because we need to complete end of year fiscal accounting, there will be a delay in May 1 paychecks.” and “We apologize for any inconvenience.”
Well, that apology and $3 will get me a small Starbucks coffee! But it won’t get my bills paid. Don’t you love it when businesses “apologize for any inconvenience”? I had put off paying for Oreo’s medicine, Ginger’s medicine and last vet visit, and my storage unit until this paycheck, at which point they cannot be put off any longer. And now I have no paycheck!
So I have been on email and the telephone today, trying to delay these payments, and getting nowhere. Despite having most of the money for the storage unit saved from the last paycheck, if I don’t pay in full, they’ll put all my stuff up for auction after tomorrow! Their response was pretty much, “Gee, that’s too bad, but it’s your problem, not ours.” The head vet wasn’t in today, but her staff’s response was, “Do what you have to do,” in that disgusted voice. She’s the best vet in town and very busy, so she had said they won’t see us anymore if we don’t pay when we promised. Well, I promised; the cats didn’t promise! But Ginger does adore this vet, very unusual, so they have an excellent catside manner and I hate to chance losing them.
I need to pay everyone by close of business on the first (tomorrow). So if y’all could please fund me for a total of $500 via Paypal[using my business partnership address, karlekonsultants (at) cs (dot) com], I would greatly appreciate it! This can either be a loan that I will pay back as soon as I am paid, or money that I will pay forward as soon as I am paid.
They said “Early May paychecks should be forwarded by May 7”; but knowing their history, that probably means they’ll pay both the last 2 weeks of April and the first 2 weeks of May on May 15 (they have delayed longer than promised on a couple other occasions previously).
I am looking for other work, now that I’m full-time plan to save as much as I can against future scroddings, and of course I want to do more cartooning! In my spare time, I hope to do lots more Democats.
Only 5000 presidential candidates to go! (OK, maybe a slight exaggeration)
