As most of you know I have been struggling to support myself over the past year or so in the face of multiple medical issues. For years, I have been part of the gig economy as writer, editor, cartoonist, and graphic artist, with the typical result of on-demand work without benefits. Everything’s great when I’m healthy and work is plentiful. But when I can’t work, or there is no work available, I have no funds coming in.
At the moment, then, I don't see any alternative but to get back on the needs list for myself and my pets.
I need to save my stored stuff from auction, need about $300 for that. Then Oreo needs insulin, $110; and Ginger needs a vet visit and a steroid shot, plus her probiotics, which adds up to about $150 (she has inflammatory bowel disease).
