As many of you know, I was out of work earlier this year. I gradually got back on my feet by first working as a landscaper for my landlord, then finding two medical transcription jobs, then an editing job. However, I have held the relatively well-paying editing job for only about a month, so had not saved any money for emergencies yet, when crisis struck. My beloved pootie-child Ginger was in distress on a Sunday afternoon. I took her in immediately, and she was found to have a gum infection with an abscessed tooth. I used money I had saved for my health insurance to pay the vet a down payment and crossed my fingers that y'all would help me out for the rest.

Ginger needed/needs two followup vet visits, and my other beloved pootie-child Oreo needs to see the vet to make sure he's doing all right. Including the emergency weekend visit and repeated labs, I needed over $1800. And thanks to all of you, I now have enough to pay for all of that, the labs, the associated medicines, everything they need. We raised a total of $1880. I was even able to go ahead and pay my premium and keep my health insurance.
Before the first diary went up, I was sweating with anxiety because it seems like lately, we have needed to do fundraisers several times per week. How much more does our community have left to give? But you came through and continue to come through for your fellow humane beings. Right on the heels of my diaries, another was written for someone else, and we raised enough money for her too.
