Welcome back to the odd and whimsical poetery of the Peeps related to holidaze! Let’s investigate what today is, because we need all the holidaze we can celebrate, right? Furtunately, our country is back to more or less normality, about which all critters are very happy!

Still, every day seems to be many holidays. Which is good, because we all have our favorites. So I will pick out one or two, and you can click the link above if you’re curious about the rest. This is an Open Thread, so please feel free to add your favorite pomes and photoes and holidaze for today in the Comments!

Today is Panic Day

The creators of this holiday describe the day by saying that would-be celebrants should "Run around all day in a panic, telling others you can't handle it anymore," and add that the holiday is "co-sponsored by the Sky is Falling Committee." They give little other information on the holiday beyond a few more suggestions on how to celebrate. It seems the holiday is meant to be tongue-in-cheek, but at the same time, if people have real panic inside of them, it is the perfect day to let it be known.

After the stresses of the last year, push and pull on the vaccines (Some people get Covid vaccines before their turn vs. About half of Americans do not want the vaccine right now), and our stimulus checks still in limbo, I think it’s past time for us all to celebrate and run around and yell! Does it feel like a great weight has lifted from our shoulders since Inauguration Day, yet not enough is getting done? Then run around and yell! It won’t solve anything except you’ll feel a little better.

I looked for aminals running around in a panic, but to me they seemed more mean than funny. This one is kind of sweet:

Breathe

by Tiffany L. Ganci

[full pome at the linky]

Panic, worry, darkness closing in around me.
These are some of the words I could use to describe my anxiety,
but nothing I can say could speak of its entirety,
as I cry internally thinking I've lost my sanity.

Doctors, counselors, saying there's something wrong with me.
My parents telling me to calm down and stop being so crazy.
But how can I calm down when the world around me
is spinning out of control and I can barely see?

Breathe. You will get through this.

You will get through the sleepless nights,
all the internal fights,
and the days that seem right
when the world hits you with all its might.

Breathe. You will get through this….

[I could not find biographical information for Tiffany L. Ganci. Maybe she’ll see this and make contact! This pome has been used in online course work. We would love to know more about her!]

See? It gets better when you breathe.
