Welcome back to the odd and whimsical poetery of the Peeps related to holidaze! Let’s investigate what today is, because we need all the holidaze we can celebrate, right?

Lately, every day seems to be many holidays! Which is good, because we all have our favorites. So I will pick out one, and you can click the link above if you’re curious about the rest. This is an Open Thread, so please feel free to add your favorite pomes and photoes and holidaze for today in the Comments!

Today is Chocolate Day!

There are some other sweet holidays today — Global Forgiveness Day, Tell the Truth Day (anyone question our *resident about that one today?), even National Strawberry Sundae Day — but Chocolate Day wins! It will always win!

Interesting history of chocolate and Chocolate Day — and mouth-watering photo! — at this link, www.checkiday.com/…

How to Observe

Chocolate Day must be celebrated by eating chocolate! Try one of the many types of candy bars or other treats mentioned in the description. If you want to be health conscious, try some dark chocolate. If you don't want to just eat a chocolate bar, there are many other chocolate desserts you could try to make!

OK, I confess, I like to mix chocolate with bourbon!

Chocolate Indulgences

by Mark J. Halliday

If I really had no choice but to divulge,
In mountains of chocolate I would indulge.
I’m not just talking about Snickers,
Reese’s peanut butter cups, Butterfingers,
Or other grocery store sweeties.
I’m talking about the expensive stuff, most from overseas:
Fruit and nut bars from British Cadbury,
Milk molasses chips from local Mrs. See’s,
Fudge Easter Eggs from domestic Helen Grace,
Belgian praline Sea Shells from Leonidas,
Belgian Cote D’Or bouche pralines,
And from Germany’s Ritter Sport — EVERYTHING!
Wallowing in glorious chocolate, I’d be so pathetic,
If not for the fact, that I’m a diabetic.

[Mark Halliday has been a missionary, a musician, an Army intelligence analyst, and composer. He lives with his family in California and grows food in his own garden!]

As you probably know, chocolate is not good for cats. So enjoy our chocolate-point cats!
