Welcome back to the odd and whimsical poetery of the Peeps related to holidaze! Let’s investigate what today is, because we need all the holidaze we can celebrate, right?
Lately, every day seems to be many holidays! Which is good, because we all have our favorites. So I will pick out one, and you can click the link above if you’re curious about the rest. This is an Open Thread, so please feel free to add your favorite pomes and photoes and holidaze for today in the Comments!
Today is Yell “Fudge” at the Cobras in North America Day!
This is so silly, I just had to pick it (and no worries, no snakes in the pics!):
Founded in the early 1990’s by renowned holiday creators Thomas and Ruth Roy of Wellcat Holidays, this holiday gets the Cobras slithering south. As everyone knows, Cobras hate fudge, and the mere mention of the word gets snakes to gag and slither away. On this day, people from North America go outside, point themselves south, and yell “fudge” at noon local time. Could it be that this ritual keeps Cobras from living in North America?
You haven’t seen any Cobras in North America, have you? So obviously it’s working!

The Cobra Dance
by Sienna Luna
-snip-
Folding my lanky, tall body
to fit my lengthy personality.
I am a cobra,
and I do a sultry dance.
I will not shake or dodge or prance.
I linger after every thought,
slip my way into the cold spongy grey tiled dance floor
until you cannot see me anymore.
I am a cobra,
you’d better watch out.
Sparkling white scales,
they shimmer softly in the moonlight.
A young
destroyer of worlds….
