Welcome back to the odd and whimsical poetery of the Peeps related to holidaze! Let’s investigate what today is, because we need all the holidaze we can celebrate, right?
Lately, every day seems to be many holidays! Which is good, because we all have our favorites. So I will pick out a couple, and you can click the link above if you’re curious about the rest. This is an open thread, so please feel free to add your favorite pomes and photoes for today in the Comments!
Today is Holy Tuesday
Since I won’t purrsonally be writing a Peeps diary on Easter Sundae, we’ll mention it tonight. This is 5 days before Easter, and thought to be one of the days Jesus had confrontations with the Pharisees and Sadducees. Even if you worship Ceiling Cat or some other non-Christian faith or non-faith, hopefully you’re having your own celebration for Holy Week and/or Spring Rebirth.
the donkey
by G.K. Chesterton
When forests walked and fishes flew
And figs grew upon thorn,
Some moment when the moon was blood,
Then, surely, I was born.
With monstrous head and sickening bray
And ears like errant wings—
The devil's walking parody
Of all four-footed things:
The battered outlaw of the earth
Of ancient crooked will;
Scourge, beat, deride me—I am dumb—
I keep my secret still.
Fools! For I also had my hour—
One far fierce hour and sweet:
There was a shout around my head
And palms about my feet.

[G.K. Chesterton was a journalist, critic, publisher, poet, author, and “political radical”.]
