Welp, it is Toosdai and so it is the day for some srs mischiefery with a mashery of Ogden Nashery (illustrated)! Let’s see what today is and if we have Ogden’s poetry to cover it… Googles… we do! Well, sort of! But this post is an Open Thread, so please feel free to discuss and to post your favorite illustrated pomes in the Comments also too!
So tonight, we will again explore one of today’s holidays:
Today is National Another Look Unlimited Day
Apparently this always happens the day after Labor Day! It’s a sort of fall cleaning, but limit trash day. I guess since you might already have to clean up from the weekend’s holiday, you might as well go all in! If you have items that are unused, figure out if you can repurpose them or sell them or give them away to people who will value them! Check the link for more information about ALU Day. They say that getting rid of clutter gives you more energetic feng shui. Even removing a few things in your way increases energy. Worth a try, right?
So Ogden didn’t write a poem about trash, but one of his books IS subtitled, The Golden Trashery of Ogden Nashery! And one of the tributes after his death (by Morris Bishop) (no title that I can find) stated:
Free from flashiness, free from trashiness,
Is the essence of ogdenashiness.
Rich, original, rash and rational
Stands the monument ogdenational.
As for clutter, I DID find an Ogden Nash poem that included “cluttered”! But, well, it’s about dentistry and made my teeth hurt and I thought might yours also too. So I leave it to you to find it if you wish!
